27/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - In principle, it will be during the ministerial meeting on Tuesday in Moscow, that Japan is expected to formally announced that it is renouncing it s attempt to set up the experimental thermonuclear fusion reactor, ITER at Rokkasho-Mura. This decision will authorise the starting up of work at the French site of Cadarache (south east) before the end of the year. It comes eighteen months after the hard fought contest between Europeans and the Japanese, following the technical agreement that gave Japan a primary role in managing this international management project bringing together, the EU, USA, Russia, Japan, China and South Korea in exchange for the construction of the reactor on EU territory.
