EUR 40 million for Flood Protection Barrier in St Petersburg

Brussels, 12/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB), in line with the Baltic Sea environmental objectives of its first lending mandate for Russia, lends EUR 40 million to the Russian Federation for the completion of the St Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier (25 km barrier stretching across the Neva Bay) to protect the city from the risks of floods and pollution of contaminants carried by floodwaters.
