In Germany, ENDEKA (turnover of 31.57 billion EUR in 2004) has increased its foothold on the grocery market with the acquisition of its smaller rival SPAR (turnover of 2.3 billion EUR in 2004) and a division of NETTO (turnover of 893 million EUR in 2004). NETTO and SPAR are specialists in discount products. The total cost of the operation has not been disclosed.
