28/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - President Chirac has judged the first flight of the Airbus A-380 a success and a “great moment for Europe” (see EUROPE 8937 on the declaration from Commissioner Verheugen). “This success is a symbol of what Europeans can achieve together when they join forces, skills, will, creativity, in all areas”, said Jacques Chirac in front of Airbus staff at Toulouse-Blagnac airport. “You are the incarnation of the Europe we want, a Europe of union, a Europe of progress, a Europe of ambition”, said the French President. Mr Chirac also welcomed the “magnificent result for European industrial cooperation”. In his view, it is “an encouragement to pursue on this way the construction of a Europe of innovation and progress”.
