Luxembourg, 18/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - The EU plans to scale down its ALTHEA mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In Luxembourg on Friday, the EU defence ministers were brought up to date by the commander of the operation on the ground, John Reith, on how the mission is unfolding. “It is a great success”, said Luxembourg minister Luc Frieden in a press conference. It is against this backdrop that the ALTHEA mission will be revised in May and early June, and a decision will be made on how much it can be reduced by, after six months on the ground already. ALTHEA, which has 7000 personnel to date, may be scaled down to 5000 but no fewer, said Javier Solana.
