04/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, MEP Enrico Letta (ALDE, Italy) welcomes the adoption by a large majority at the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Committee of his document approving the European Commission's proposal to set an upper limit of 1.24% GDP on the EU's budget for 2007-2013. Letta said the opinion (to the EP temporary committee on the upcoming Financial Perspectives, whose rapporteur is Reimer Böge, Ed.) flies in the face of the eurosceptics who want Europe to be pared to the bone, and for Italy is a contribution to the attempts to save the Structural Funds.
