28/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - European Internal Market Commissioner Charlie McCreevy wants to be open to everyone's concerns over the draft 'Bolkestein' Directive on services, as he reiterated at the unveiling on Thursday of the second report on the Internal Market Strategy for 2003-2006 (see yesterday's Europe, p.10). He said he had listened to what people had told him and hoped a directive would be arrived at that would liberate the EU's economic growth potential. He acknowledged that the draft directive had sparked off much comment in the European Parliament and the media, but stuck to the line he has adopted since becoming Commissioner, namely that keeping things as they are is not an option because growth in the European economy is too sluggish.
