15/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The delegates of the ministers of Council of Europe member nations have adopted the budget of the pan-European organisation that comprises 46 European countries. The budget will be EUR 186 million in 2005, i.e. around five million more than in 2004. Although such a budget may seem ridiculously small given the size and the complexity of the tasks of the Council of Europe, its secretary general, Terry Davis, said it was "realistic in the current context" of "zero growth in real terms in budgets". The operational budget of the European Court of Human Rights will be EUR 41.7 million in 2005.
