14/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Answering questions put to him by the press on the idea floated by former Commissioner Mario Monti that the countries rejecting the Constitution should be asked what their real intentions are with regards EU membership, the leader of the ALDE Group, Graham Watson replied: "I believe this is a good idea. If a country is not ready to accept the Constitution (when what it proposes is a 'minimum', in my opinion), then one has the right to know whether it is committed to the European project. If it has serious reservation, the Constitution for the first time provides for the possibility to leave the EU".
