14/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Between the second and third quarters of 2004, production in the construction sector fell by 0.5% in the euro zone and in the EU of 25. The drop was 0.7% and 0.6% respectively the previous quarter, and, compared to data registered in the third quarter of 2003, the latest figures have fallen 1.3% and 0.5%. Among the twenty Member States for which elements are available, the biggest reductions were to be found in Estonia (-6.7%), Poland (-5.7%), and Luxembourg (-2.1%). From one quarter to the next, increases were to be seen in eleven countries, including Slovenia (+9.2%), Slovakia (+4.2%) and Lithuania (+3.1%). Looking at the annual pace, Germany saw the biggest fall (-8.7%), followed by Belgium (-5.5%) and Portugal, and the highest increase was to be credited to Latvia (+11.4%).
