06/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Iranian authorities are said to be "seriously concerned" by the human rights situation in the EU, as well as anti-Muslim feeling in the Netherlands following the murder of film director Theo van Gogh. According to the AFP, the Iranian minister of foreign affairs' spokesperson, Hamid Reza Assefi declared that, "we are seriously concerned by human rights in Europe". In response to worries expressed by the EU with regard to the human rights situation in Iran, the spokesperson affirmed that, "We are expecting Europe to take the necessary measures to avoid the breach of Muslim or foreign nationals' rights".
