06/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Massimo D'Alema, Gianni Pittella and Michele Santoro, Italian members of the Socialist Group at the European Parliament, have written to European Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot calling on him to reopen the file on "Corridor VIII", excluded from the TEN priority list (Trans-European Network for Transport because it covers certain countries that are not members of the EU. MEPs, who called for a meeting with the Commission to hold an indepth discussion on this question, note in a press release the interest that the project holds for a geo-economic balance to the advantage of the Union and for the Balkan countries and the Mediterranean region.
