Debate on terrorism - Monaco 46th Member State

Brussels, 29/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - An urgent debate on the challenges of terrorism in the Member States of the Council of Europe and a debate on the political, humanitarian and human rights situation in Chechnya feature among the main points of the session of the Parliamentary Assembly which will take place in Strasbourg from 4-8 October. Among the speakers will be: the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan, the President of the new pan-African Parliament Gertrude Mongella, the director of the UN programme for the environment (UNEP), Klaus Töpfer, and the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Supachai Panitchpakdi.

This session will also welcome Prince Albert of Monaco, who will give a speech on 6 October, just before the official ceremony for the Principality of Monaco's accession, making it the 46th Member State of the pan-European organisation.
