Mario Monti hopes to decide on Oracle's takeover of PeopleSoft before he steps down as Commissioner

Brussels, 24/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Commission would be prepared not to oppose the hostile takeover bid of 7.7 billion dollars, launched by the American group, Oracle, against PeopleSoft, said the Financial Times on Friday. The investigation procedure, which was interrupted several times since its launch at the end of last year (see EUROPE of 19 November 2003) may see a favourable outcome by the end of October.
