Brussels, 11/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - In June 2004, the Italian private hospitals association AIOP lodged a complaint with the European Commission against the Italian state for hindering competition with regard to the freedom to supply health services. AIOP represents 514 accredited private hospitals with more than 54,000 members of staff. It believes the Italian health care system runs counter to anti-trust legislation and state aid rules.
