British gas distributor CENTRICA has sold AA- AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION, Britain's largest roadside assistance group, to the investment fund CVC CAPITAL PARTNERS and PERMIRA for 1.75 billion pounds sterling. Since CENTRICA acquired AA in 1999, the subsidiary's operating profits have increased from 6 million to 93 million pounds sterling, and the number of customers from 9.5 to 15 million.
