18/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Jacques Chirac asked Gerhard Schröder to speak on his behalf during part of the European Council in Brussels. The President of the French Republic was, on Friday morning, to be attending the ceremony to celebrate General de Gaulle's call of 18 June 1940. Jacques Chirac has already spoken on behalf of Germany, a symbol of the healthy Franco-German relationship.
