Brussels, 17/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The list of new MEPs elected in Poland and Slovenia is as follows:

Poland

In Poland, voting ended on 13 June 2004 with an overwhelming victory by the Right, if one takes into account the results of the five parties whose ideas remain very different on Europe as on other issues. In total, they hold 42 of the 54 Polish seats at the European Parliament.

Platforma Obywatelska (Moderate Right): 15 MEPs: Jerzy Busek, Zdislaw Chmielewski, Malgorzata Handzlik, Stanislaw Jalowiecki, Filip Kaczmarek, Bogdan Klich, Barbara Kudrycka, Janusz Lewandowski, Jan Olbrycht, Pawel Piskorski, Jacek Protasiewicz, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, Boguslaw Sonik, Zbigniew Zaleski, Tadeusz Zwiefka.

Socialdemokracja Polska: 3 MEPs: Genowefa Grabowska, Jozef Pinior, Dariusz Rosati.

Slovenia

With an abstention rate of 71.6%, Slovenia, which is usually considered as a model of European integration, did not live up to its reputation. The voters who did turn out were not truly successful in deciding between the parties present even though the centre left coalition (LDS + DeSUS) suffers the wearing effect of being in power.

Nova Slovenija (PPE-DE): 2 MEPs: Alojze Peterle et Ljudmila Novak

LDS + DeSUS (ELDR): 2 MEPs: Jelko Kacin et Mojca Drcarmurko

SDS (PPE-DE): 2 MEPs: Mihael Brejc et Romana Jordan Cizelj

ZLSD (PSE): 2 MEPs: Borut Paho.
