28/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The new Greek Health Minister, Nikitas Kaklamanis, has launched an appeal to the Greek people, the biggest smokers in the EU, to give up tobacco, the Italian press agency ANSA in Athens has reported. "Stop if you want to enjoy a healthy life" the minister pleaded on the occasion of World No-Smoking Day. Mr Kaklamanis, who is a doctor, recognises that bans are seldom effective, and admits to being a "hounded smoker".
