German CONTINENTAL has made a public bid of EUR 227 million (or 15 euros per share) on another German company, PHOENIX (turnover EUR 1.15 billion in 2003 with 9,800 employed), a specialist in spare parts and rubber and plastic equipment. It has already received the support of the main shareholders, DAUN & CIE, and the state bank WESTLB, which secures 37% of the 15.16 million shares of PHOENIX capital.
