Commission initiative to strengthen veterinary cooperation between Member States and accession countries at border posts

Brussels, 25/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - In the interest of animal welfare and food safety in the enlarged Union, the European Commission intends to support cooperation between current and accession Member States in veterinary inspections. To this end veterinary experts from current Member States will be going to border post veterinary inspections to lend a hand, just before they join the European Union, as well as a few weeks after accession.
