23/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - MEP Othmar Karas (EPP-ED Austria) welcomed the creation of a European Green Party, declaring, sarcastically, "28 years after the foundation of the European Popular Party…the Greens are the fourth political force in Europe to unite into a single party". Karas noted that the EEP had been set up in 1976, Party of European Socialists in 1992 and the European Liberal, Democrat and Reform Party in 1993.
