10/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - the European Parliament has requested the priority investigation into the effects of fishing on all non-commercial species (fish, sharks, turtles, birds marine mammals) in an effort to reduce catches of these species. The Commission recommended this on Tuesday in Strasbourg, by adopting the report of Carlos Lage (PES, Portugal) on the 2003 communication on improving scientific and technical opinions.
