Commission suggests overall budget of EUR 15.4 billion (commitment appropriations) for spending over first three years with view to accession by Bulgaria and Romania

Brussels, 11/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission presented its "financial package" on the basis of which it suggests that Member States finalise accession negotiations with Bulgaria and Romania, if possible by end October before expiry of the Prodi Commission's tenure. The Commission's budgetary proposal provides for Bulgaria and Romania being able to count on an overall budgetary allocation of EUR 15.4 billion in commitment appropriations and EUR 9 billion in payment...
