02/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - During the visit of Kofi Annan to the European Parliament, the EP Intergroup "Peace for the Saharawi People", which was set up in 1986, voiced its support for the efforts of the United Nations Secretary General and his personal envoy James Baker to resolve the "forgotten conflict" of the western Sahara. In an appeal to be submitted to the UN, over 130 MEPs have called for a "just solution" to the conflict, pointing out that in July 2003, the Front Polisario had accepted the Peace plan of Self-determination, which was rejected by Morocco, and that Kofi Annan asked the Security Council to give him an extra three months to enable Morocco to respond.
