19/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Ukrainian Tatjana Zakharova, who is involved in human rights work in her country, spoke out against the scandal of "the disappearance of at least 300 babies" from a hospital in Charkow at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where she was invited by CSU MEP Gabriele Stauner, according to a press release. There is a suspicion of organ trafficking, said Ms Stauner, who noted that Ms Zakharova "risked her life" to reveal the outrage. As a member of the Council of Europe, Ukraine must, amongst other things, respect provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights, warned Ms Stauner, who feels that if the worst fears are confirmed, the EU should suspend its aid to Kiev. At the same time, she spoke of her gratitude that Ms Zakharova was able to meet the Council of Europe's Commissioner for Human Rights, Alvaro Gil-Robles, in Strasbourg.
