03/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has taken provisional anti-dumping measures on imports of large rainbow trout originating in Norway and the Faeroe Islands. The rate of duty applicable to the products manufactured by all Norwegian companies has been set at 21.4% and between 16.8% and 49.1% for those from the Faeroe Islands. This follows a procedure begun with a complaint by the Finnish Fish Farmers Association and Åland Islands Fish Farmers Association. This investigation concluded the existence of dumping of consequent to the incidence of Community industry, which is "very large" if we take into account the volume of prices for imports from Norway and the Faeroe Islands. In the event, it has lost market share at the time when entire Community consumption rose from around 44,000 tonnes to almost 52,000, experiencing during the same period; a sharp drop in prices and a noticeable fall in profits, cash flow and return on investment, indicated the Official Journal L232.
