GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/competition

01/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the following operations under the accelerated procedure. Firstly, it has authorised the creation of a joint company between Dano-Swedish group Arla Foods Ingredients amba, and the German Nordzucker. This new company will manufacture and distribute a new sweetener. Secondly, it has made no objection to the total takeover of the Finnish pharmaceutical company Tamro by German pharmaceutical Phoenix Internatinol Beteiligungs.
