- Italy: The former Italian tobacco monopoly has been bought up by the private sector. BAT - BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO, has won the sale by auction for privatisation of the Italian ETI - ENTE TABACCHI ITALIANO (turnover EUR 677 million with 2028 employed). Control was gained by increasing the amount of the offer to EUR 2.325 billion. The final offer was higher than initial estimates by the Italian Treasury (between EUR 1.4 and 1.5 billion) and leaves the two rival bids far behind, namely...
