11/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the EU was to appoint a high Belgian diplomat to the post of EU Representative for the Middle East. Marc Otte, aged 56, is currently adviser on security and defence for Javier Solana and was the former Ambassador in Israel between 1992 and 1996. Mr Otte is expected to succeed Miguel Angel Moratinos, of Spanish nationality.
