06/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The British government has reached a position on the UK's possible membership of the Euro, and will announce it on Monday, said Chancellor Gordon Brown in London on Thursday. He added "our membership of the EU is crucial for the UK's employment, prosperity and growth". According to the British Press, Mr Brown also made it clear that the conditions for joining the Euro have not been met, and there are no plans for a referendum.
