Favourable Parliament opinion to Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell's appointment as ECB board member

Strasbourg, 15/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - With 330 votes in favour, 15 against and 60 abstentions, the EP has pronounced in favour of the appointment of Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of Austria, as member of the board of the European Central Bank, replacing Finn Sirkka Hämäläinen (which Austrians Othmar Karas and Paul Rübig were delighted with).
