24/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The President of the EU Council George Papandreou, who was in Brussels for the plenary of the European Convention spoke to the US Secretary of State Colin Powell, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and the Minister for international co-operation and development Nabil Saat. The talks with Mr Powell essentially focused on the publication and implementation of the Quartet's road map" for relaunching the peace process in the Middle East, according to the Greek agency ANA. The High Representative for CFSP Javier Solana welcomed that agreement of the composition of the government of the Palestinian Authority, providing assurances that this would, "benefit from my personal support and that of the whole of the European Union. We are very satisfied by the conclusion of the agreement and are ready to collaborate fully with the reformist government to move forward the Palestinian Authority's reform process and the peace process with the immediate publication and application of the road map It is time for Israel and the Palestinian Authority to resume a constructive dialogue, in the interest of the two peoples who aspire fundamentally to real peace and guaranteed security".
