Brussels, 19/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - Speaking before the ECOFIN Council on Wednesday, the President of the ECOFIN Council, Nikos Christodoulakis said any reaction to the economic impact of a war on Iraq should be decided at EU level: "All reaction that might be considered as necessary should be in absolute coordination between Member States". HE went on express reservations about specific measures some Member States might take to cut the cost of oil for consumers. The Greek finance minister said the looming war on Iraq and geopolitical uncertainties made it more necessary than ever that EU states give strong and credible signals that they were committed to tackling economic reforms to make the bloc's economy grow.
