Brussels, 14/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - In its contribution to the Spring Summit 2003, Eurocommerce calls on the Fifteen to step up their efforts to reach the goals of the Lisbon Summit. More especially, Eurocommerce considers progress is possible in the following fields: 1) modernisation of labour relations, mainly in institutionalising the tripartite Social Summit and promoting life-long learning; 2- fostering a knowledge-based society, by encouraging on-line transactions among other things; 3) simplifying the business regulatory environment; - 4) creating a culture of entrepreneurship; 5) encouraging sustainable development in a competitive economy; and 6) enlargement: ensuring the conditions for a smooth transition.
