13/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Guy Quaden, Governor of Belgium's Central Bank and Member of the European Central Bank's Governing Council, announced on Belgian radio (on the state radio station RTBF) on Saturday that the ECB was studying the option of creating a one euro banknote. He said that he personally favoured the minting and use of one euro notes, adding that Austrians, Italians, Greeks and Belgians favoured their creation, Germans opposed the idea.
