The Hungarian government points out that AIG - AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP and British GMT COMMUNICATIONS PARTNERS are currently negotiating the acquisition of VTH - VIVENDI TELECOM HUNGARY, a fully-owned subsidiary of VU - VIVENDI UNIVERSAL. According to the Dow Jones agency, the sale would be for EUR 335 million although VU had hoped for 430 million. VTH holds 13% of the market shares for fixed telephony in Hungary with 480,000 subscribers, and made a turnover of EUR 151 million in 2000.
