Italy prosecuted for not decently managing two rubbish dumps (Milan and Frosinone)

Luxembourg, 08/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has hauled Italy before the European Court of Justice for abandoning the rubbish dumps of Rodano, in Milan, and Via Granciara in Castelliri (Frosinone). For the Commission, Italy has not taken the necessary measures for the owners of these dumps to hand over the rubbish to a collector - it can be public or private - as provided for by the 1975 European directive amended in 1991 (91/156/EEC).
