Brussels, 03/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Responding to Commissioner Günter Verheugen's request in November 2001 that it consider in greater detail the economic and social consequences of enlargement in the candidate countries, the European Economic and Social Committee adopted an own initiative report on the subject at its December plenary session. The rapporteur was Dimitrios Dimitriadis (Employers' Group, Greece) and the co-rapporteur Eva Belabed (Workers' Group, Austria).
