02/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 23 December, the European Commission endorsed the decision to implement the regulation on compensating job offers and demand, aiming to strengthen and consolidate the European Employment Services (EURES) while granting greater responsibility to member and partners of the network by giving them a more flexible structure. The Commission stresses that in view of enlargement full account must be taken of the implementation of EURES in the future Member States, while ensuring that the systems remains flexible and manageable. The Commission notes that EURES has to be strengthened as a key instrument for monitoring workers' mobility and the integration of the European job markets, also helping to provide information to citizens about EU legislation.
