25/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - "With their proposal, they go in a direction where they demonstrate that their ambition is only to introduce stronger and further discipline for others, especially for Europe and the developing countries, and they themselves are doing nothing", explained the European Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler in an interview with Reuters on charged made by the Cairns Group that the EU was not going enough to liberalise trade (see yesterday's Europe, p.10). Fischer went on: "And if they say no progress was made in the last years, I must say: We made progress. We reduced our export subsidies a lot".
