20/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to estimates published by Eurostat on 19 September seasonally adjusted figures for the construction sector fell by 1.2% in the Euro-zone and by 0.8% in the European Union (E15) during the second quarter of 2002 compared to first quarter figures. These figures follow on from a 0.2% fall in the Euro-zone and stabilisation during the first quarter in the E15. Germany's -7.1% and Belgium's -4.1% were the steepest falls. Finland, Denmark and Luxembourg registered increases of between 2.7% and 1.9%. Bases on annual figures, production fell by 1.3% in the Euro-zone and 0.2% in the EU15 during the second quarter compared to 1.5% and 2.2% respective increases during the course of the first quarter.
