Brussels, 12/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the German group Siemens to acquire a 10% stake in AeroLas, an operation that will give it joint control in the running of AeroLas, a start-up company based in Bavaria so far controlled by its founders and various venture capital firms. AeroLas produces air bearings with laser technology it developed and which can be used for microchip manufacturing equipment. The operation does not pose any problems, as sufficient competition will remain on the markets concerned, with, in particular, Dover Instrument Corp and Westwind Airbearings for air bearings, and Fuji and Panasonic for micropchip manufacturing equipment.
