09/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Hanns Seidel Stiftung is organising for 25 April in Brussels a conference on the theme "Biotechnology as Driver of Innovation", with the participation of European Commissioner for Research Philippe Busquin, and in cooperation with the SME Union presided by MEP Paul Rübig. MEP Emilia Franziska Müller will summarise the conclusions of the debate. There will be addresses by MEPs John Purvis, Peter Liese, Francesco Fiori, as well as Luc Geyselen, from the Directorate General for Competition at the European Commission; Timo Summa, Director of the Directorate General Enterprises at the European Commission; Stefan Winter from the German Health Ministry; Fred Schaebsdau from the BioScience Venture Group in Munich; Hugo Schepens, Secretary General of EuropaBio; and Peer Schatz of Quiagen AG.
