Brussels, 09/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission adopted several decisions relating to State aid (to which EUROPE will come back in greater detail). It thus authorised:
aid in favour of new investment for STMicroelectronics in the semi-conductor sector in Catana (Sicily);
aid in favour of Infineon Technologies;
the creation of Community Development Venture Fund, granting venture capital for companies in the less-favoured regions of the United Kingdom;
the large part of aid in favour of the German company Hamburger AG (paper).
The Commission, moreover, decided to open the following investigation procedures:
a treasury advance amounting to EUR 450 million granted by France to Bull;
aid to Bankgesellschaft Berlin.
Finally, the Commission decided not to authorise aid in favour of German engine manufacturers SKL-M and MTU and calls for aid to be reimbursed.
