Commission takes several decisions

Brussels, 09/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission adopted several decisions relating to State aid (to which EUROPE will come back in greater detail). It thus authorised:

aid in favour of new investment for STMicroelectronics in the semi-conductor sector in Catana (Sicily);

aid in favour of Infineon Technologies;

the creation of Community Development Venture Fund, granting venture capital for companies in the less-favoured regions of the United Kingdom;

the large part of aid in favour of the German company Hamburger AG (paper).

The Commission, moreover, decided to open the following investigation procedures:

a treasury advance amounting to EUR 450 million granted by France to Bull;

aid to Bankgesellschaft Berlin.

Finally, the Commission decided not to authorise aid in favour of German engine manufacturers SKL-M and MTU and calls for aid to be reimbursed.
