Second World Assembly on Ageing opens on 8 April in Madrid

Brussels, 05/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and Spanish Prime Minister José Maria Zanar are to open the second World Assembly on Ageing in Madrid, on 8 April. The watchword of the assembly will be a "Society for all ages". The assembly will come to an end on 12 April with the adoption of an action plan comprising medium and long-term common strategies to face up to the problem of an ageing population in the world.
