21/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Friday morning, the representatives of the national parliaments will made amendment proposals for the draft Internal Regulation, announced Alain Barrau (France) to reporters, viz: 1) the idea of a large number of Members should be replaced with at least a third of Members (Article 1, Article 15); 2) a Member's Alternate can replace them even for only part of a sitting; 3) some documents should be available in all 11 official EU languages; 4) issues concerning the Secretariat. In a press release, the EPP group on the Convention said it would not propose any changes since the draft rules were not perfect, but were acceptable, and can be amended at a later date anyway, explained the President of the group, Elmar Brok.
