15/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - In the context of consultation procedure, the Parliament adopted the report by Spanish Socialist Fernando Pérez Royo on the taxation of savings income, and that of Benedetto Della Vedova on EU taxation policy. MEPs stressed during the debate how difficult it would be to negotiate with Switzerland in particular on lifting the banking secret, a condition set by Luxembourg for adopting the "tax package" (EUROPE will come back to this).
