Uncil calls for continuation of inter-Congo dialogue - withdrawal of foreign troops from DRC and cease-fire in Burundi

Brussels, 12/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, Foreign Ministers from Member States adopted the conclusions on the political situation in the Great Lakes area, calling for continued efforts for stability and peace in the region. The main guidelines are as follows:

Democratic Republic of the Congo: the Council expresses its solidarity with the people population victims of the eruption of the Nyiragongo Volcano, and welcome the signing (on 5 February) of the national indicative programme...
