01/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - As previously indicated, the EP on Thursday adopted the Resolution by Caroline Jackson on the strategy for sustainable development for the Barcelona Summit. EUROPE will publish full details about this and Hans Udo Bullman's Resolution on the Process of Lisbon (adopted by 322 voting for, 190 against and 20 abstentions), as well as the resolution by Othmar Karas on the economic repercussions for Europe in the aftermath of the attacks in the USA on 11 September. The plenary session rejected an amendment introduced by Socialists and Greens that referred to the delicate situation in Spain concerning the National Hydraulic Plan adopted by the Spanish Senate in 2001 (147 for, 263 against, 113 abstentions). El Pais pointed out that four Spanish Socialists had broken ranks and voted with those criticising the plan: Anna Terrón, José Maria Mendiluce, Joan Colon and Raimon Obiols.
